NOW HIRING! - APPLY IN PERSON! - Hiring Pool Builders
When you decide to buy a swimming pool, that’s just the first of many decisions you’ll have to make. You’ll also have to decide where, exactly, to put the pool, what extra features you want to add, and, of course, what size you want the pool to be.
For many people, deciding on size is a little tricky. Their first instinct may be to go really big, as big as they can afford. But, with pools, bigger isn’t always better, especially if you don’t really need or won’t use the entire pool. Plus, many people would like to have some yard left over for other activities. Thus, before you take the plunge and just buy a giant pool, consider a few facts that should affect your chosen pool size.
Consider Family Size
The most important thing is to choose a pool that’s able to accommodate your entire family comfortably. Thus, it just makes sense to consider your family size. For average families of up to five people, 16 by 32 foot pools are recommended, For larger families, you’ll likely want a bigger 18 by 36 foot pool. Yes, there may be some days where you invite people over and push your pool to the limit. But, honestly, as long as it’s comfortable for the main users—you and your family—that’s all that matters.
Plan the Rest of Your Yard
Before you choose your pool, come up with a plan for the rest of your yard if you haven’t already. Decide how much open, free room you want for the kids to play. Think about other outdoor features you’d like to have, such as a playhouse for the little ones. Once you’ve got all the details mapped out, see how much space you have left over for a pool. Whether it’s more or less than you thought, at least you won’t lose yard space you had plans for. Instead, you can choose a properly-sized pool and even pick the perfect location for it.
As you can see, a lot of thought goes into selecting the right pool size. But, if you put in that thought and time, you can select a pool and a pool size that you’ll be happy with for years to come.
